The Mount Thabor Academy is committed to offering quality courses and to producing videos and podcasts in Orthodox theology and the spiritual life.
Inspired by St. Sophrony the Athonite, and as a member of his spiritual family, it is my hope to introduce you to the vast treasury of his ascetico-theological vision, and to the lineage which he represents.
For this reason, it is my intention, as President of Mount Thabor Publishing, to produce videos, podcasts, eBooks, audiobooks, and print books that are in keeping with this healing tradition - the tradition of prayer and stillness, the tradition which bears witness to the fact that theology is not a set of ideas or concepts, but rather a state of prayerful dialogue and loving communion with none other than Christ Himself, our Lord, God, and Saviour.

Intrusive Thoughts & Healing of the Mind
Course description: This course introduces the Orthodox Christian understanding of intrusive thoughts (logismoi), and the healing of the mind (nous).
Drawing from the lived experience and teachings of primarily St. Silouan the Athonite, St. Sophrony the Athonite, and the Fathers of the Philokalia, it presents a patristic framework for understanding thoughts, spiritual struggle, and inner healing.
The course offers a grounded Orthodox understanding and spiritual tools for responding to inner struggle as a place of encounter with God’s mercy and grace. Time will be set aside for discussion and questions.

St. Paul: Repentance as Life in Christ
Course description: In our presentation of the mystery of repentance in the epistles of St. Paul, we shall first give an outline of his life, and then, based on selected passages from his epistles, we shall attempt to describe certain aspects of St. Paul’s lived experience and doctrine of repentance. These references will include 1 Tim 1:15 (“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief”); Phil 3:13-14 (“this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind … I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”); Gal 2:20 (“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me”); 2 Cor 12:9-10 (“And He said unto me: My grace is sufficient to thee … for when I am weak, then I am strong”); Eph 6:14 (“the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world”); Phil 1:7 (“I have you in my heart”); and Rom 9:3 (“I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh”). On our journey, we shall draw from a number of new and ancient Patristic sources, which give us a deeper understanding of the remarkable words of this great son of Abraham and Apostle to the Gentiles.

Spiritual Lessons from St Silouan
Course description: “Meeting St. Silouan through the Experience of St. Sophrony” is a guided study and discussion of the writings of St. Silouan with an eye to how they might inform our own spiritual journey. As we read through certain passages from St. Silouan, we’ll also be guided by his spiritual son, St. Sophrony.

Basic New Testament Greek
Course description: The course will introduce the basic grammar, syntax and vocabulary to participants, preparing them to read the New Testament in the original Greek, and to effectively use language study tools. The goal is to lay a foundation in the language upon which further, more advanced studies may be pursued.
